Well i have to admit i ve had a terrible few days and just when you think things cant get any worse, they do. After recovering from my ankle injury and working my way back to fitness in readiness for our big home game against san jose earthquakes the unthinkable happened for me.
We had been working in training on tuesday on the shape on the team, and doing some possession phases when disaster struck. One of the trialists we had in ran straight into me with his head, BANG!, i knew something had happened. I continued to train with an ice pack in my hand but went straight to hospital to find out what was going on. After a scan and a second opinion it was obvious that my cheekbone had been fractured but more worrying for me was the dent on the side of my face. The surgeon said that unless i had surgery straight away to push out that dent then i would be stuck with that for the rest of my life. The cheekbone to heal will take between 8-10 weeks so my season is over. Now i know that this was an accident but it should never of happened. In the lead up to one of the most important games of the season,in the history of the club, this incident happened. I am seething with what has happened.
My surgery went well on thursday and i was there to cheer the boys on on saturday in our must win game. Now i know i am unable to help on the field but i still can help in the changing room and that is still part of my job.
Unfortunately the match ended in a 1-1 draw after we conceded in the last minute of injury time. This is not the first time it has happened and is very worrying but we are still in with a shout. We still believe as a group we can make the play offs and that is our aim. I agree with people that we are making it very hard for ourselves but we are not giving up, thats for sure!!!
Really sorry to hear about it. I was looking forward to seeing you, JDG and DeRo boss the midfield and am certain things could have turned out differently. You sure are right about making it harder on yourselves. I still have faith though.
Hope the recovery goes well!
Crazy to have trialists in with the first team before this match and it has me further questioning some of the decisons made by the current management team. If we’d had a fit Carl Robinson playing in front of the back 4 I doubt we’d have pissed away another crucial 2 points.
All the best for a speedy recovery and I hope we see you back at TFC next season, Carl.
The incident was very unfortunate and I hope you get well soon and are fit as soon as possible. I am sure you are very missed on the pitch but you will be fit for the next season which I am very excited for.
It’s a crying shame that you’ve been elimintated from play for the remainder of the season Robbo.
It’s good to hear that you’re still able to contribute. The team needs all the stability they can get right now if they’re going to get six points out of the next two games.
All the best to you. I hope you heal up quickly.
You guys can still make it and have the talent! Plz come back next yr Roboo even if to play in the centre of defence with nana!
Hate to lose you Robbo…good luck with the surgury!
You were certainly missed but the fans on the pitch, hopefully the extra rest will see you back next year better than ever. Big Win Today again Real Salt Lake .
Completely agree the accident shouldn’t have happened. Done now though so hopefully the lads take in whatever you say before the NY game. Leaders on the field can and do make a difference off it. Good luck.

Hi there
So sorry to hear about your injury – just keep your chin up, rest and make sure you recover ok
Will miss seeing you at the games – always looks for #33, my fav player!
Stupid accident, that I agree should never have happened, but then most accidents should never happen – that’s why they are accidents! As long as you are ok, and recovery is good – then don’t dwell on it, not worth worrying over the ‘what ifs’
